Add a change request—Construction

Use change requests to revise original amounts in a primary project estimate. Add change requests to project change orders to revise project contract line prices.

Before you start

Set up change request statuses. Change request statuses determine how a change request posts to a primary project estimate.

Add a change request

  1. Go to ProjectsAll > Change management and select Add (circle) next to Change requests.
  2. Enter a Change request ID.

    If you configured Projects to use an automatic ID sequence for change requests, the ID appears automatically.

  3. Select the Project ID of the associated project.

    You can select a sub-level project from the same project hierarchy. Selecting a Project prefills the Project field in the entries section.

  4. Enter the Change request date.

    This date is used as the estimate entry effective date if posted to a GL budget.

  5. Enter a Description of the change request.
  6. Select the Change request status.

    Entry lines default to the workflow type mapped to this change request status.

  7. Only posted change requests can be linked to a project change order. When linked to a project change order, the posted change request inherits the change request status of the project change order. If the project change order does not have a change request status set, the linked change request inherits a None status. Depending on your workflow, a None status can affect GL posting from the project estimate.
  8. Optionally, for reporting purposes, select Change request types.
  9. Optionally, select an Attachment.
  10. Specify how the price change affects project contract lines in Project contract line source.

    • Inherit from project change order
      The project contract and line from the project change order are automatically assigned to all the change request entries.
    • Assigned from this change request
      Enter the project contract and line on the change request for all the change request entries. Link the change request to a project change order to update the project contract line.
    • Assigned per entry
      Enter the project contract and line for each change request entry line.
  11. You can link this change request with a Project change order associated with the Project ID.
  12. In the Entries section, enter your changes.

    Move the entries using the Move icon. Entries will appear in printed documents in the order you set here.

  13. Select Draft to save the changes.
  14. When you’re done with the change request, Post the change request to a primary project estimate.

    The project estimate reflects posted change requests.

The project change order must be in a posted state to update the project contract lines.
