Entities list

This list supports the enhanced lists interface. Learn more about using enhanced lists.

The Entities list page shows you every entity you've set up. Use the Entities list page to:

  • Access an entity without having to log off and then back on again
  • Access the Entity information page and:
    • View or edit details of each entity, including the entity name and ID and the inter-entity payables and receivables accounts.
    • Create a new entity.

To access this page, go to Company > Setup > Entities.

Add, edit, or view an entity

  1. Go to Company > Setup > Entities.

  2. Select Create to add a new entity, or select More actions > Edit or More actions > View next to an existing entity.

  2. Select Add beside Entities to add a new entity, or select Edit or View next to an existing entity.
Intacct can support up to 31,999 each of departments, entities, and locations. This limit applies to each dimension individually.
  • Deleting and recreating these items still counts toward their individual limits.

  • Exceeding this limit could cause unexpected issues.

Switch to an entity

You can switch among entities from the top level without having to log in or out again.

You can switch to another entity as follows:

  • From the Top level list: Select the Top level dropdown list, and choose the entity you want to switch to.
  • From the Entities list: Find the row containing the entity that you want to access, and select Switch to Entity on that row.
  • From left navigation menu: Select Company > Setup > Entities and then choose the entity you want to access.

The entity opens in a new browser window. The entity name is shown at the top of the page, immediately before the top level.

Delete an entity

An entity can be deleted only if it has no records or transactions associated with it.

  1. Go to Company > Setup > Configuration > Entities.

  2. Select More actions > Delete next to the entity you want to remove.
  3. Select Delete on the confirmation dialog.
  1. Go to Company > Setup > Configuration > Entities.

  2. On the Entities list, locate the entity and select Delete.
Cannot delete the entity? If you added any records in the entity, you must first delete them before you can delete the entity. In addition, be sure to update any top-level records that refer to the entity. For example, if you restricted a user to the entity, edit the user's record and remove the entity.

Export the entity list to another file format

Select the Export drop-down link above the list and then choose the file format you want.

Import details of another entity

Select Import. This opens the Import company information window. Enter the relevant information and select Import. For more information, see CSV import: Entities.
