Calculate billing by percent completed

The way that you track the percent completed depends on how you define the billing template.

Based on observed percent completed

For billing that's based on observed percent completed, regularly update the Observed percent completed table for the project or tasks. Then, when you generate invoices, this information determines how much to invoice for each line item.

  1. Edit the project (Projects > All > Projects > Edit).
  2. For percent completed based on the project, update the Observed percent completed table for the project itself. Enter an As of date, and a percent complete value.

Based on hours

For other types of percent completed billing, the percent completed is calculated by dividing actual hours by the metric (estimated, planned, or budgeted hours) you chose in the billing template. Generally, enter your estimated, planned, or budgeted hours at the beginning of the project. As your employees enter time against tasks in the project, the percent completed is calculated automatically.

  1. Edit the project (Projects > All > Projects > Edit).
  2. Update the estimated, planned, or budgeted hours. Your percent of completion will be computed based on the actual hours worked, divided by this number.
