Enable grouping—CRW

Wizard Step 8. Optionally group data

To specify a greater level of detail in the format of a Custom Report Writer (CRW) report, you can grouping data by column.

For example, if you enable Grouping, you can create reports that provide subtotals for each group. One reason might be to see invoice subtotals by customer and the invoice total for all customers. Another reason might be to group subtotals by geographic region. Specifying this level of detail in your report can increase the efficiency of the data analysis.

Choose a grouping format

You specify a Grouping format in the Custom Report Writer Wizard (CRWZ) Enable grouping step.

  1. Choose one of the following grouping formats for your report:

    • No grouping: Select a format without grouping to display a flat list of information, with the option to show a grand total at the bottom. For example, to see how many invoices over $10,000 you have and their total dollar value, choose No grouping.

    • Grouping: Select a grouped format to arrange information together and show subtotals for the grouped rows. By default, the report shows subtotals based on the groups you select in the next two steps: group data and order groups. Totals by group (effectively subtotals) are automatically included in the report.

  2. Select Next, if you chose Grouping.

  3. Continue to Wizard Step 9. Group columns.

If you chose No grouping, the Wizard step numbering after this step will be different than if you chose Grouping.
