Add, edit, and view transaction currencies

The option of using multiple transaction currencies is separate from multiple base currencies. Learn more about enabling multiple base currencies in your Intacct company.

Use the Transaction currencies list to view, edit, add, or delete the transaction currencies your company uses. The page lists currencies by currency code, name, and symbol.

Before you begin

Before you add a transaction currency to your company, enable multiple transaction currencies in the General Ledger.

  1. Go to Company > Admin > Subscriptions.

  2. Next to General Ledger, select Configure.

    The Configure General Ledger page is shown.

  3. Under Multi-currency management, select Enable multi-currency subscription.
  4. Save your changes.

Add a new currency

The currency code and name are the ISO-standard code and name.

When you set the number format for a transaction currency, the number format affects all reports and externally facing documents created in Sage Intacct using the selected currency, such as AR sales invoices.

  1. Go to Company > Setup > Multi-currency > Transaction currencies.
  2. Select Create.
  3. Enter the information for this new currency in the fields provided.
  4. Select Save.

View or edit a currency

  1. Go to Company > Setup > Multi-currency > Transaction currencies.
  2. Find the currency that you want to view or edit.
  3. View or edit the currency.
    • To view the currency: Select More actionsView at the end of the row.
    • To edit the currency: Select Edit at the end of the row.
    • The Currency and format setup page is shown.

  4. View or edit the currency information as needed.
  5. Select Save if you made any changes.

Delete a currency

You cannot delete a currency used as the base currency for any entity in your company. If the delete option is unavailable for a currency, that means the currency is being used as the base currency for an entity in your company.

  1. Go to Company > Setup> Multi-currency > Transaction currencies.
  2. Find the transaction currency that you want to delete.
  3. Select More actions > Delete at the end of the row.
  4. Select OK to confirm deletion.
  • Go to Company > Setup > Multi-currency > Transaction currencies.
  • Find the currency that you want to delete and select Delete.

Currency code

The base or transaction currency you use in your company.

Currency name

The official name of the currency selected in Currency code.

Currency symbol

The accepted symbol for the currency.

Format section

Currency format

The country standard format you want to use on your company documents. Automatically updates when you change the currency code.

Currency unit

Common name of your currency unit such as Dollars or Euros.

Currency subunit

Common name for the most common division for the currency, such as cents for dollars or pence for pounds.

Currency symbol

The symbol used to designate the currency, such as $, €, or £.

Thousands separator

The character, such as a comma or period used to separate thousands. This has no mathematical impact, but helps the reader distinguish large values.

Decimal separator

The character, such as a period or comma used to separate the main units from the subunits.

Numbering system

Shown only for certain currency formats, such as the Indian Rupee format.

Alignment

Controls whether the currency symbol is displayed to the left or the right of the number.

Currency sample

Shows a sample value with the current format settings.
