Consolidate an ownership structure
After you define your ownership structure, periods, and book rules, you're ready to consolidate periods for your ownership structure. Select the period date range and then select the period you want to consolidate.
When selecting Consolidate, your consolidation request is added to the consolidation queue.
Consolidation states include:
- Successful. The periods shaded in green are successfully consolidated.
- Failed. Those periods shaded in fuchsia or dark pink have failed consolidation.
- In-progress. The periods shaded in cyan or blue are in progress, meaning they are currently being consolidated.
- Re-consolidation required. The periods shaded in orange require re-consolidation. If you change an ownership structure after consolidation, Sage Intacct automatically flags the period for re-consolidation. Re-consolidate this period before moving on to subsequent period consolidations.
After completing consolidation, you can run trial balance, General Ledger activity, and financial reports on your consolidated data. You can also generate a reporting book.

Consolidate an ownership structure
Previous step: Define consolidation rules for a period.
- Go to Consolidation > All > Consolidate structure.
The Consolidate ownership structure page is displayed.
- From the Ownership structure drop-down list, select the ownership structure you want to consolidate.
- From the Period range drop-down list, select the date range you want to consolidate, for example January through December 2023.
- Select a single active period to consolidate from the table of periods.
- Select Consolidate.
The Consolidate ownership structure period page appears with the following details:
- Entity: The parent or subsidiary entity in the reporting group.
- Level: The hierarchical level of the parent entity within the ownership structure. For example, Entity A owns Entity B, which owns Entity C. Entity A is at level 1, whereas Entity B is level 2, and Entity C is level 3.
- Book: The name of the consolidation book associated with the reporting group of the ownership structure.
- Ownership %: The percentage ownership by which the entity is owned by its parent entity in this ownership structure. Parent entities are owned 100%.
- Ending spot rate: The ending spot rate for the period.
- Weighted average rate: The weighted average rate for the period.
- To view a map of the ownership structure, select Map view.
- Select Consolidate to proceed with the consolidation.
- In the Email notifications window that appears, enter the email address where you want to receive notification of the consolidation request.
Select OK. Intacct queues the consolidation request.
- Refresh the page to view the consolidation state of the ownership structure periods.
Next step: You can refresh the page to view the consolidation state of the ownership structure periods you consolidated. If an entity fails consolidation, to re-consolidate it select the period checkbox and select Consolidate at the top of the page.
What happens when you consolidate an ownership structure
Intacct queues the request to run the consolidation, while your work can continue unimpeded. The request is placed at the end of the queue and jobs run in the order they were received. The consolidation starts with the lowest level of subsidiary entities in the reporting group. After consolidating the lowest level entity, Intacct moves up to the next level in the ownership structure.
While the consolidation request is queued, you cannot run another consolidation, or change consolidation options. You can, however, choose to cancel the consolidation request.
