Assign a default delegate approver
Administrators can allow users to approve their own submissions or require a different person or group to approve their submission.
Delegation is not performed if a user group is designated as the approver.

To designate approver: List, View, Add, Edit To approve: Approve Journal Entries (List, Approval) |
The default delegate that you select serves 2 purposes:
- To facilitate populating, the delegates for each approver are shown in the table. When you initially set up delegation, Intacct pre-populates the delegate for each approver in the table with the default delegate. A best practice is to go through the table and ensure that an appropriate delegate is selected for each approver. For example, for some approvers, a peer in their department or their manager can be the appropriate delegate.
If you do not change an approver's delegate from the pre-populated default and then change the default delegate, that approver's delegate changes to the new default delegate.
- To serve as the delegate for any user who is not currently an approver and is then given approve transaction permission to become a new approver. The default delegate remains the new approver's delegate until you return to the Manage Delegates page to change it.
Only users with approve transaction permission appear in the list of default delegates, are listed in the mapping table as approvers, and can be selected as an approver's delegate.
