Field descriptions: Transaction Templates for journal entries
The following table describes each field on the Transaction template page.

Template ID |
The name of the template. After the template is saved, this field cannot be changed. To change the template ID, you must create a new template with the new name, and then make this one inactive. |

Journal |
Select the appropriate journal from the dropdown list. All transactions you create with this template will post to the selected journal. |

Offset account |
The offset (balancing) account for all the line items in this template. Typically, you'll have pairs of balancing line items. This offset account is required in the event that you do not specify a line-item offset. |

Default description |
Enter a description of the transaction. |
|
Status |
Determines whether this template appears in list pages. Select Active to display it. Select Inactive to hide it. |

Account |
Enter an account name, or select the dropdown list to look up the account. If the account has not yet been created, select New to add it. |

Label |
Create a name for the account that's meaningful to the user. |

Department |
Select the department associated with this transaction. |

User provided |
Select this checkbox if you use departments, locations, or both, and you want the user to choose which one. |

Show as |
Select Read-only, Editable, or Hidden. |
|
Location |
Select the location associated with this transaction. |
|
Treat as |
Select whether to treat (or handle) the item as a debit or credit. |

Dimensions |
Select the dimension, such as Project, Customer, or Supplier, from the appropriate dropdown list. |

Refresh |
Reset the number of line items to the number set in Rows. |

Rows |
The number of line items available on this page. |
