Change object IDs
Object IDs are unique identifiers assigned to various elements within Sage Intacct, such as departments, locations, or classes. These IDs help distinguish each element from others, ensuring accurate tracking and management within Intacct.
After your initial configuration, these IDs rarely change. However, evolving business needs, such as new legal requirements or the integration of records from a recent acquisition, might necessitate changes.
In situations where keeping the original ID is no longer optimal, consider editing the object ID. You can change the following Intacct object IDs:
Considerations
Carefully consider the potential impact of changing object IDs on other areas of Intacct and any integrated systems. Changes to object IDs can affect:
-
Smart Rules: Review any Smart Rules that reference the object ID you intend to change. You might need to update these rules to reflect the new ID.
-
Smart Events: Investigate any Smart Events that utilize the object ID. Ensure that these events will continue to function correctly after the change or require updating.
-
APIs: If you use APIs that interact with object IDs, you'll need to update your API calls to use the new ID.
-
Reports: Examine any reports that include the object ID. These reports will need to be adjusted to display the updated information accurately.
For example, if an ID was
ABCsix months ago and appears asABCon a report from that time, changing the ID toXXXtoday will cause that historical report, when rerun, to now displayXXXfor that entry. The change cascades throughout the applications. -
Integration settings: Review all integration settings that rely on the object ID. This includes both native Intacct integrations and third-party software connections. If you're using an object ID as a reference point in an integration, before you change the object ID, plan how to update the integration points.
Sage Intacct highly recommends performing a comprehensive audit of your environment before editing any object IDs. This audit will help you determine the extent of the changes required across Intacct and integrated systems.
