About matching transactions across periods

Transactions that span two reconciliation periods (one of the transactions is outside the statement ending date of the current reconciliation) do not automatically match.

To automatically match transactions, your account must have an assigned rule set.

Example

Say you’re reconciling for 1/31. You have a transaction in Sage Intacct dated 1/31 and a bank transaction dated 2/1. These transactions do not automatically match in your January reconciliation.

Options:

  • Match transactions in the February reconciliation.

Adjust the statement ending balance to account for the Intacct transaction not being reconciled. These two transactions automatically match in the February reconciliation.

  • Match transactions in the January reconciliation.

Adjust the statement ending date on the Reconciliation page to 2/1 to include the bank transaction.

  • Keep the statement ending date as 1/31 and clear the Intacct transaction in the 1/31 transaction. Then, ignore the bank transaction when it appears in the February reconciliation.

If you manually matched the bank transaction from 2/1 from the Bank transactions list and then go to reconcile with a statement ending date of 1/31, the bank and Intacct transactions unmatch. To retain the match, adjust the statement ending date to 2/1 to include the bank transaction.
