Delete a consolidation book
You can request a book deletion and get on with your day. Sage Intacct handles the deletion request in the background while you can navigate away from the page and continue doing your work.
When you request a book deletion on the Consolidation books page, Intacct queues your request and addresses each deletion in the order in which it is received. The book deletion queue handles deletion requests on a first-in, first-out basis to ensure balanced processing of all requests. After consuming a deletion request, Intacct deletes consolidation book data, such as consolidation entries related to the book. Then, Intacct deletes the remaining book objects in a similar first-in, first-out manner of processing.
Completing the deletion process can take considerable time, depending on the size of the book you want to delete. The good news is that you can keep working while the deletion process occurs completely in the background.
Book deletion best practices
It's a best practice to delete consolidation books when:
- The consolidation book is outdated and rarely used.
- The consolidation book is a duplicate that you do not need.
Books that are eligible for deletion
When viewing the list of books on the Consolidation books page, you'll notice that some books have a Delete link enabling deletion. Other consolidation books do not have the Delete link next to them. Those books without a Delete link cannot be deleted because these books are part of an ownership structure. You can only delete standalone consolidation books that are not part of an ownership structure.
If you want to delete a book that's part of an ownership structure, you'll need to delete the ownership structure itself.

- Go to Consolidation > Setup > Consolidation books.
- Find the book that you want to delete and select Delete next to the book.
A confirmation window is shown.
- In the confirmation window, select OK.
What happens after you request a book deletion
- Sage Intacct receives your request to delete the consolidation book.
- Intacct processes the deletion requests in the order in which they are received.
- Intacct deletes all the data associated with the consolidation book. This can take some time, but you can continue working while the data is deleted in the background.
- After the book has been deleted, Intacct emails the user who requested the book deletion to notify them of the completed request.
View the status of your deletion request
You can view the status of your deletion request after requesting a book deletion.
- Wait a few minutes after sending the deletion request.
- Refresh your browser page.
- Go to Consolidation > Setup > Consolidation books.
- Next to the book you requested to delete, select View.
The book opens.
- Find the deletion status notification at the top of the page.
Typically, the status is in progress until Intacct deletes the book.
When the book deletion is complete, Intacct removes the book from the list of books on the Consolidation books page.
