Add custom fields to assets—Fixed Assets Management

You can add custom fields to assets to store additional attributes that do not fit in our standard fields. For example, if you have vehicle assets, you could create custom fields for Make, Model, and VIN. Other common examples include Legacy Asset ID and Last Inventoried Date.

The custom fields that you create appear in a section at the bottom of asset records. We recommend creating custom fields before importing assets, so you can include that data at the time of import.

The custom field type Picklist multi-select is not supported in Fixed Assets Management at this time.
  1. Depending on your subscriptions, do one of the following:
    • Go to Platform ServicesAllObject customization and select Add (circle) next to Custom fields.
    • Go to Customization ServicesAllObject customization and select Add (circle) next to Custom fields.
  2. Select the Asset object and then select Next.
  3. Select the Data type that you want to use for your custom field.

The Picklist multi-select data type is not supported in Fixed Assets Management at this time.
  4. Select Next.
  5. Enter a label that helps your user understand what type of data they need to enter in the field.

Intacct automatically suggests a Field ID based on that label.

  6. Define any other field properties.

The properties vary based on the data type you selected.

  7. Select Next.
  8. Choose your deployment options.

    Leave the following fields blank:

    • Section where field appears

    • Tab where field appears

    • New tab where field appears

For Fixed Assets Management, custom fields appear at the bottom of the asset record in a section titled Custom fields. You cannot customize the section or tab where the custom fields appear.
  9. Select Done.
