Disassemble kits

Use the Disassemble kits page to disassemble a built stockable kit back into its component items and kits, or to view information about kits that have already been disassembled.

After a build kit is disassembled, the stocked kits are removed from inventory and the components are added back to inventory. The Physical Inventory report reflects this change.

  • If the disassembled kit has tracking, all the tracking information is removed for the kit. For example, if the number units of the kit that were built were assigned serial numbers, those serial numbers are no longer in use and are available to be used in new Build Kit transactions.

  • If the disassembled kit has tracked components, the tracked components are restored to be individual items that are available to be used elsewhere. For example, assume that a kit was built that included a bin-tracked component. When the kit was built, 20 units of the component were taken from Bin 1. If you disassemble this kit, the 20 units are put back in Bin 1.

Disassemble a kit

If any portion of a build kit has been sold, you cannot disassemble the kit.
  1. Go to Inventory Control > All> Kits, and select Disassemble kits.

  2. Find the kit you want to disassemble.

  3. Select More actions > Disassemble at the end of the row.
    The Disassemble kits page appears.

  4. In the Date field, enter the date on which the kit is to be disassembled.
  5. In the Document number field, enter a number to identify this document. If the transaction definition specifies a numbering scheme, this field does not appear and Sage Intacct automatically assigns a document number.
  6. Specify values for any optional fields as needed. For details, see the field descriptions.
  7. Select Post. The kit appears on the Disassemble Kits list with a state of Disassembled, and the disassembled kit cannot be edited. In addition, the state of the corresponding build kit on the Build kits list changes to Disassembled.
If you are not ready to post, you can select Draft instead. The kit appears on the Disassembled kits list with a state of Draft. You can then edit the disassemble kit and post when you're ready to dissemble it completely.
  1. Go to Inventory Control > All> Kits, and select Disassemble kits.

  2. Select Disassemble next to the kit you want to disassemble.
    The Disassemble kits page appears.
  3. In the Date field, enter the date on which the kit is to be disassembled.
  4. In the Document number field, enter a number to identify this document. If the transaction definition specifies a numbering scheme, this field does not appear and Sage Intacct automatically assigns a document number.
  5. Specify values for any optional fields as needed. For details, see the field descriptions.
  6. Select Post. The kit appears on the Disassembled kits list with a state of Disassembled, and the disassembled kit cannot be edited.

Edit a disassembled kit

You can only edit information in a disassembled kit that has a state of Draft.

  1. Go to Inventory Control > All > Kits, and select Disassemble kits.
  2. Find the disassembled kit you want to edit.

  3. Select Edit at the end of the row.
  4. Changes are saved when you select Draft or Post.
  1. Go to Inventory Control > All> Kits, and select Disassemble kits.
  2. Select Edit next to the disassembled kit you want to modify.
  3. Changes are saved when you select Draft or Post.

Field Description

Serial, Lot, Bin values

The Serial, Lot, Bin subsection appears if the kit is enabled for tracking (serial, lot, expiration, bin, or any combination of those attributes). Use the fields in the table to view the tracking information for the kit that's being disassembled.

The columns that appear in the table depend on the tracking attributes that are enabled for the kit:

  • Serial number: Appears if the kit has serial tracking. Displays the serial numbers for the quantity of the kit being disassembled.
  • Lot number: Appears if the kit has lot tracking. Displays the lot numbers for the quantity of the kit being disassembled.
  • Bin: Appears if the kit has bin tracking. Displays the bins from which the quantity of the kit will be disassembled.
  • Expiration date: Appears if the kit has expiration tracking. Displays the expiration dates for the quantity of the kit being disassembled.
  • Quantity: Displays the quantity of the kit being disassembled for the combination of the tracking attributes specified for the line. The total quantity that's displayed in the table matches the value of Quantity for the line item.

Field Description

Kit Component values

The table in the Kit Components subsection displays the component items in the kit that's being disassembled.

  • Component ID: The item ID for the component.
  • Kit qty required: The number of units of the kit being disassembled.
  • Component qty per kit: The number of component units needed for 1 kit. For example, if 2 units of the component are needed for 1 kit, the value of this field is 2.
  • Component qty required: The number of component units that were needed to build the quantity of the built kit. For example, if 2 units of the component were needed to build each kit and 5 kits were built, the value of the field is 10. When the kit is disassembled, the on-hand quantity of the component increases by the value in this field.
  • Component qty selected: Displays the same value as Component qty required.
  • Serial, lot, bin: If the component is enabled for tracking (serial, lot, expiration date, bin, or any combination of those attributes), a hyperlink appears in the column. The hypertext link shows what tracking attributes the component has. Select the link to open the details area for the component to view the tracking information.

Bin, Lot, Serial for kit components

If an individual component for the kit is enabled for tracking (serial, lot, expiration date, bin, or any combination of those attributes), this table appears in the details area for the component.

The columns that appear in the table depend on the tracking attributes that are enabled for the component item:

  • Serial number: Appears if the component has serial tracking. Displays the serial numbers for the component quantity that was used to build the kit.
  • Lot number: Appears if the component has lot tracking. Displays the lot numbers for the component quantity that was used to build the kit.
