Use Order Entry with a multi-currency company

If your company uses multiple currencies, the system does the following in sales order and sales order template pages:

  • The system adds currency and conversion rate selection fields in which you can select the currency and specify a conversion rate source or type in the conversion rate you want to use.
  • The system replaces line item Amount fields with Transaction amount fields to enter the amount in foreign currency and a read-only Base amount field in which the system displays the amount converted to base currency.

If you are processing payments within a transaction in Order Entry, you will notice that the system offers no way to change the currency on the payment processing page. Payments processed through Order Entry allow you to only receive payments in the same currency as the invoice. To use multiple payment currency options, process the invoice through Accounts Receivable. (Go to Accounts Receivable > All > Invoices and select Add (circle) next to Receive payments - New!.)

When the currency of an invoice does not match your company's base currency and you choose to process payments within the transaction, you need to have view and edit permission to the Order Entry object, Payment Exchange Rate Information. If this permission is set, your payment page will include the Exchange rate type field where you select the source for exchange rate information.
