Field descriptions: Define standard tasks

| ID |
Required. You cannot change the standard task ID. If your Projects application is configured for automatic document numbering, -New- appears in this field. Clicking Save automatically assigns after a new ID. Your administrator may need to adjust your document sequence number configuration to make sure no duplicate task IDs are created. Go to the Configure Projects page to modify the document numbering sequence.

Name |
Required. Enter up to 200 characters. |

Description |
Enter up to 1000 characters. If your administrator configured Projects to re-purpose the Class dimension with Task and autofill the Class field with the Task Name, the Class Name field reflects the Task Description for added reporting visibility. |

Status |
Assigns a status to the task (such as in progress, completed, or on hold).
You cannot apply timesheet entries to tasks marked as completed.

Priority |
Lets you prioritize the task.
|
|
Parent ID |
Allows you to create groups of standard tasks in the Standard Tasks Catalog, where the parent ID identifies the top level of the group. Sub-level tasks appear indented below the top level. |

Class |
This field appears if your company has associated the class dimension with tasks for GL tracking and financial reporting. Depending on configuration options:

Item |
Item associated with this task. Required if task is billable. |
|
Billable |
To be able to bill the time entries to the client, select the Billable checkbox. Clear the box if the time entries are not billable to the client. |

Milestone |
To use the completion of this task as a milestone, select the Milestone checkbox. About milestones
Milestones work the same as regular tasks, but with two key differences:

Utilized
|
A utilized task indicates progress on a customer project or internal project. A non-utilized task indicates a task not working on a customer project or internal project, for example, time spent filling in an expense report or timesheet. |

Work breakdown structure (WBS) Enter up to 8 characters. |

Time type |
Assign a time type (such as salary, contract hours, overtime, or vacation) to the task. Required if you set up to post labor costs to general ledger accounts. Learn why to use time types
