Change column sort order

In Interactive Custom Report Writer (ICRW), you can change the way the results appear in a column. Each column can be sorted differently.

Specifying the column order

The ICRW sort function is based on the ASCII character number. This means upper-case letters are sorted above lower-case numbers in an alphabetical list. After applying an Ascending sort to a column, such as Vendor Name, the results do not appear in alphabetical order. For more information, see Unexpected column sort in ICRW.

You can include multiple sorts in the same report, using different columns. For example, to add cumulative sorts you might first sort by ascending name and then sort by descending date. You can sort by selecting Add ascending sort or Add descending sort.

Sorting with the Define tab

  1. Open an ICRW report and go to the Define tab.
  2. Find the column that you want to sort.
  3. Select A downward facing arrow tip to indicate a series of options that can be viewed by selecting the arrow to expand the list. (Options) to the right of the column title.

  5. Choose the desired sort order.

Select the column header to access the Sort menu. You can choose to sort in ascending or descending order. You can also clear sorting options from this menu.
