Account groups list

Account groups help you organize your accounts into larger and more manageable groups for financial reports, graphs, and performance cards. If you are new to account groups, it's recommended that you start by reviewing our introduction to account groups.
The Account groups list has two views, which you can switch between by using the Flip view button:
- Account groups: Use this view to review and edit your account groups.
- Accounts to account group map: Use this view to see if any accounts have not been assigned or have been assigned twice.

Account to account group mapping
When you select Flip view at the top of the Account Groups list, the view changes to show your account titles and the account groups to which they belong.
To make changes after you have finished checking your list in the Account to account group map view, select Flip view to return to the Account group view.
Account Group Hierarchy report
A good way to see if your account groups are mapped correctly is to view the account group hierarchy.
- To review the hierarchy for all account groups, use the Account Group Hierarchy report (General Ledger > All > Reports > Account groups hierarchy).
- To view the hierarchy for a particular account group only, go to the Account Groups list and select Hierarchy next to the account group.

You can import and export account group information using CSV files. In both cases, there are separate CSV files for:
- Account groups: For each account group, the CSV file provides the name, type of account group, titles to be used on the heading and total rows, and other information.
- Account group members: In this CSV file, each account group is mapped to a comma-separated list of group members.
You can export account group information from the Account Groups list.
- Go to General Ledger > All > Financial report structures > Account groups.
- Select the Export button. A box appears with two choices: Account Groups or Member Groups.
-
Select either Account groups or Member groups, depending on whether you want to export data about account groups, or about the members of each account group, respectively.
From the Company Setup Checklist, you can import account groups and account group members.

Options vary for account groups in a multi-entity shared environment. For example, at the top level you can choose to display entity-level account groups. At the entity level, account groups created at the top level are listed as Not owned and cannot be edited.
Records designated as Inactive do not appear in the list by default. To view these records, select Filters at the top of the list and select Remove next to the Status filter to remove it.
To display entity-level account groups, select Include inactive at the top of the list.
The most common reason that you do not see this feature is that you're using a custom view.
When you select a custom view, some options are hidden. Depending on the page you're on, the Include inactive, Include one-time use, Include private, and Display hierarchy options are not visible. For example, if you're viewing from a custom view, the Financial Reports list will not provide the Include inactive option.
To see the options again, switch back to View All. See Custom views for more information.
