INVENTORY CONTROL
Stronger item tracking management
To avoid potential inventory valuation or item quantity discrepancies, tracking for items can only be enabled or disabled before on-hand quantity exists.
What's changed
Sage Intacct previously allowed you to enable tracking for items with a zero or a positive quantity. As a result, it could be a challenge for warehouse workers to find those items in the warehouse—items could be received, but not tracked (in a bin, lot, with serial number or expiry date).
To ensure data accuracy, you can now only assign or remove tracking before items are included in transactions which affect the quantity on hand.
Best practice
Before you receive any items, determine whether you want to enable bin, lot, serial, or expiry tracking. You can then choose to enable tracking before posting any transactions to receive quantity.
Change your current tracking configuration
If you have items with quantity on hand, and want to start or end item tracking, you'll need to complete the following steps:
-
Post the final item transaction to make sure there's zero quantity on hand.
-
Set the item to Inactive.
-
Create a new item with tracking enabled or not.
