Change management documents overview—Construction

Change management documents capture project changes as they occur. Using change document transaction definitions in Purchasing and Order Entry (OE), you can change or add quantities or amounts in your source order document at any time.

Change management documents also record all revisions to your source order document, giving you visibility to original and revised quantities and amounts in the source order document. You can aggregate all posted changes for reporting purposes.

You can enable change management on a transaction definition with existing transactions, but you cannot disable change management if transactions exist. Enabling this option allows you to indicate whether the transaction definition's document type is a source or change order document.

Create transaction definitions for your source order documents and separate transaction definitions for each change order document you intend to use.
