Renewal forecasts—Contracts
You can forecast contract renewal data in addition to your billing, revenue, and payment data. Decision makers can see what is booked and what is expected to be booked. Use the Interactive Custom Report Writer or Interactive Visual Explorer to build visual reports that show booked and forecast value, or use the Customer Report Writer to output the data for use with your preferred planning tool.
The renewal forecast feature is disabled by default and is enabled by request only. If you want this feature enabled in your environment, ask your designated support user to log a case with your Intacct support resource to request it.

About renewal forecast data
When a termed contract and an associated contract line are set up to renew or when an evergreen contract line is saved, Sage Intacct creates a renewal forecast schedule for 60 months or more (depending on the contract line term or billing frequency) from the current date. The initial renewal forecast takes into account the following:
- For termed contracts: the renewal template's renewal period and pricing options, any custom renewal amounts on the contract line, and existing future-dated billing price list changes.
- For evergreen contracts—the evergreen template's pricing options, any override amounts on the contract line, and existing future-dated billing price list changes.
This renewal forecast schedule data is only accessible via reports.
Note the following about renewal forecasts:
- Renewal forecast data is only created for contract lines with a state of "In progress" or "Renewal only" and that are set up for renewal or that are recurring. A contract line's renewal forecast data has no affect on the GL.
- Intacct ignores smart events and smart rules when building the renewal forecast data.
- The Salesforce CRM integration does not support syncing renewal forecast data. Renewal forecast data is stored and maintained in Intacct.
What triggers an update to the renewal forecast?
Intacct updates the renewal forecast when the following elements are changed:
- The contract line's custom renewal amounts or override amounts
- The contract line's billing or revenue schedule
- The contract's or contract line's renewal or recurring flag
The update may take several hours to complete.
Changes to the billing price list or to pricing options in the renewal or evergreen template do not trigger a renewal forecast update.
Create renewal forecast reports
You can use Custom Report Writer, Interactive Custom Report Writer, or Interactive Visual Explorer to create reports using renewal forecast data.
Use the following contract report objects as the primary data source or as related objects:
- Contract Billing Schedule
- Contract Revenue Schedule
- Contract Line
Contract Billing Schedule and Contract Revenue Schedule report objects
Filter for Schedule status equals or includes "Renewal forecast" to include renewal forecast data when building reports based on or related to the Contract Billing Schedule or Contract Revenue Schedule objects.
The "Renewal forecast" Schedule status is only visible in reports and does not appear in the user interface.
To get the best renewal forecast insight from a report based on billing or revenue schedules using Custom Report Writer, use either the Contract Billing Schedule Entry or Contract Revenue Schedule Entry object as the Primary data source. Then include the Schedule status field from the related Contract Billing Schedule or Contract Revenue Schedule objects.
Contract Line report object
When building reports using the Contract Line object, do one or more of the following to include renewal forecast data:
-
Filter for contract line State equals or includes "Renewal forecast". The best practice is to include the report column called Period. Intacct creates a unique "Renewal forecast" contract line for each unique renewal amount and assigns it a Period order value. These elements are only visible in reports and do not appear in the user interface.
For example, say a contract line starts 01/01/2022, ends on 12/31/2022, has a renewal period of 12 months, and the price will change two times - once on 01/01/2024 and again on 01/01/2026. Intacct creates 3 "Renewal forecast" lines that are only visible in reports.
Example of renewal forecast lines Contract Line no State Line start Line end Flat/Fixed amount Period CON-003 2 In progress 01/01/2022 12/31/2022 100.00 CON-003 2 Renewal forecast 01/01/2023 12/31/2023 100.00 1 CON-003 2 Renewal forecast 01/01/2024 12/31/2025 110.00 2 CON-003 2 Renewal forecast 01/01/2026 12/31/2027 120.00 3 - Filter for Billing status, Schedule 1 status, and Schedule 2 status equals or includes "Renewal forecast". This value may also appear as "F" in reports associated with the Contract Line object.
