Assign or edit approver delegates

Delegation is not performed if a user group is designated as the approver.

Enable delegation

  1. Go to General Ledger > Setup > Configuration.

  2. Scroll down to the Approvals subsection in the Enable functionality section, and select the Enable delegation checkbox. The Manage button appears.

Next, select the default delegate and assign delegates for each journal entry transaction approver.

Assign delegates

When you select the default delegate, that user is automatically selected for all approvers in the list. However, every journal entry transaction approver should have an appropriate delegate. For example, for some approvers, a peer in their department or their manager might be the appropriate delegate. For these users, select the right delegate, overriding the default selection.

The list of available delegates is based on the delegate having a matching role. If your company uses a value-base approval policy, make sure that your delegate approver has the same or higher value approval permission. Value-based permissions are not inherited by a delegate.   1. Go to General Ledger > Setup > Configuration.

  2. Select a Default delegate. The user selected here is used to pre-populate the Manage delegates table.
  3. Ensure that an appropriate delegate is selected for each approver in the table. Select the delegate for an approver when you don’t want to assign delegation to the default delegate.
  4. Select Save.

If a user is given Approve journal entries permission after you've assigned delegates, the new approver's delegate is the default delegate unless you change it.

Edit delegates

You might periodically need to make changes to delegation. For example, you might need to change the default delegate, change the delegate for an approver, or assign a delegate to a user who was just given approve transaction permission. For newly permissioned approvers, the default delegate is automatically assigned unless a specific delegate is selected.

  1. Go to General Ledger > Admin > More > Manage delegates.
  2. Scroll down to the Approvals subsection in the Enable functionality section, and select Manage . The Manage delegates page appears.
  3. Make any changes and select Save.
