Item tracking
If you're using an advanced workflow, you can enable item tracking, a powerful inventory management feature that gives you real-time visibility into your stock. By assigning tracking attributes, such as serial numbers, lot numbers, expiration dates, and storage bins, you can monitor the movement and location of goods across your supply chain.
This added visibility helps your team make smarter decisions, operate more efficiently, and maintain tighter control over inventory from receipt to fulfillment

Item tracking options
You can apply item tracking to individual items, components, or kits. It's especially useful during fulfillment, where accurate data about picked or packed quantities is essential.
| Tracking method | Description |
|---|---|
| Bin |
Bin tracking is used to identify specific storage locations of items within a warehouse. Bins make it easier to find items when you put away, pick, and cycle count inventory. Bin tracking does not support negative quantities. To learn how to set up bin tracking, see Bins. |
| Lot |
Lot tracking helps you organize specific sets of items into categories, for regulatory, safety, or quality control. For example, you can create categories for items with similar characteristics, such as perishable goods, chemicals, medical supplies, or health and beauty products. To learn how to set up lot tracking categories, see Lot categories. |
| Serial |
Serial tracking is useful for high-value items, or items with warranties that might require after-sale services. Examples are electronics, appliances, or medical devices. You'll create a specific 'mask' to define the entry format for product serial numbers. See Serial masks. |
| Expiry date |
For perishable items, you can enter expiry dates to monitor shelf life and reduce waste. |
