Set dashboard permissions

Permissions control who can use a dashboard, and in what ways, for example, whether a user can edit dashboard components. Several types of permissions apply to dashboards:

  • Permissions for dashboards in general, which are set in Company permissions.
  • Permissions to view specific dashboards.
  • Permissions to view and use components on dashboards.

When creating a dashboard, make sure that the intended users of the dashboard have permission to see all the information on the dashboard. If a user is not seeing some information on a dashboard, check the user's permissions.

Set permission to view a dashboard

  1. Go to Dashboards > All > Dashboards.
  2. Find the dashboard in the list.
  3. Select More actionsEdit at the end of the row.

  4. On the Permissions tab, specify a user or group, and then select Add.

The user or group is added to the access rights list at the bottom of the page.

  5. In the access rights list, select either Allow or Deny for the specified user or group.
  6. Repeat the process until all users and groups have the needed permissions.
  7. Select Save.
  1. Go to Dashboards > All > Dashboards.
  2. Select Edit for a dashboard.

The Dashboard Properties page appears, allowing you to edit the selected dashboard.

  3. On the Permissions tab, specify a user or group, and then select Add.

The user or group is added to the access rights list at the bottom of the page.

  4. In the access rights list, select either Allow or Deny for the specified user or group.
  5. Repeat the process until all users and groups have the needed permissions.
  6. Select Save.

Set permission to view and use components

You must have permissions to access the dashboard and have the appropriate permissions to view the information displayed there. For example, you must have permissions to view Revenue to see a dashboard item displaying Current Revenue (to date).
  1. Go to Company > Admin > Users or Roles (depending on how your company manages permissions).
  2. Select Subscriptions for the user or role.
  3. Find the application that owns the dashboard component and select Permissions.
  4. Set permissions to view, edit, or delete data used by the component.

Unless you expect the user to change the data, you only need to grant view permission.

  5. Select Save.
