Select the related dimension value
After you create a relationship between two dimensions, you are ready to select the related dimension value, For example, in the relationship of location to customer, you would select a specific customer and the specific location to be used each time a user creates a transaction against that customer.

| Previous step |
If you've created a relationship that can have more than 1 value for the related dimension, you'll select all the appropriate values.
Do one of the following:
- If you're setting only 1 value (for example, for a 1-to-1 relationship): At the bottom of the Customer Information page, select the Location dropdown list and select the value that you want to appear in the Location field for every transaction against this customer.
- If you're setting more than 1 value (for example for a many-to-many relationship): At the bottom of the Customer Information page, repeatedly select the Location magnifier icon to select each value that you want to appear in the Location dropdown list for every transaction against this customer.
Test the dimension relationship
After creating a dimension relationship, you can easily test it in any transaction that uses the two dimensions.
For example, if you created a customer/location relationship, you can test the relation by creating a transaction against that customer. The Location dimension autofills with the value you selected for the customer. In addition, because override wasn't enabled when the relationship was created, the Location value can be viewed, but not changed.
Next step: Prioritize overlapping values
