Add a visual board to a dashboard—IVE
An Interactive Visual Explorer (IVE) visual board can be added to a dashboard, just like other components and reports. Adding a visual board to a dashboard ensures that the most current results appear every time you access the dashboard.

Create a visual board
Create a visual board that you want to add to a dashboard. For more information about creating visual boards, see Add a visual board in IVE.
Create a visual board story
Like memorizing a report, creating a visual board story captures the insights of the information in a visualization. Insights are more than just a snapshot of data, however. Insights take a snapshot of the visual board definition at a certain point in time.
Narrate a story
- Go to a visual board and select Narrate.
- In the Narrate workspace, drag and drop one or more canvases to the Slides area.
- While still in Narrate mode, select Save As and rename this new version of the visual board to convey its presentation format. For example, "Expense Presentation." Save the visual board to the slide that you want to appear when a user opens the dashboard.
See Narrate overview—IVE for more information about building and sharing stories in IVE.
Add the visual board as a dashboard component
- Go to the dashboard.
- In the upper right corner of the dashboard window, select Add.
- In the Component properties window, for Component type, select Report.
- Select Interactive Visual Explorer as the Report source.
- Optionally, limit the list of reports by selecting a report type or a report audience.
- From the Component dropdown menu, select the visual board that you saved in Create a visual board story.
- Set other options.
-
Select Save.
Dashboard filters do not apply to IVE visual boards. To filter the data in a visual board, set the filters directly in the visual board.
