Time type overview
Time types capture and track categories of time, such as salary, contract hours, overtime, vacation, and travel time. You can import time types from a spreadsheet.
Why use time types?
- Better reporting
Generate reports that use time types to identify project work time for time categories such as salary, contract hours, and overtime.
The Custom Report Writer supports time type reporting. - Labor cost posting
Use time types to post labor costs to specific general ledger accounts.
Use time types to track overhead and administrative hours, which differ from using an internal project and tasks because:
- Selecting a time type on a timesheet overrides the general ledger account on the earning type.
- You can use time types on any project or task combination.
