2-step verification trusted devices not remembered
If you're repeatedly being asked for a verification code and your trusted device is not being remembered, try the solutions below.
Trusted devices are devices like a laptop or mobile phone where you can save your login information to log in automatically without needing to enter your username, password, or a verification code.
I have to enter a code even after identifying a trusted device
There are two main reasons why your trusted device is not being remembered:
- Your company do not allow for Trusted devices. This means that you are required to enter a verification code you receive via a mobile app. You cannot skip this process by identifying trusted devices.
- There's an issue with your browser settings.
Changing your browser settings:
Your browser might be configured to clear your cache and cookies automatically after you close your browser window.
To change your cookies setting so your trusted device is remembered:
In Firefox:
- Select the icon (
) at the top right corner of the browser window. - Go to Options and go to the Privacy tab.
- In the History section, select Use custom settings for history from the dropdown.
- Select the Accept cookies from sites checkbox, and choose to Keep until they expire.
- Close out of the window.
In Chrome:
- Select the icon (
) at the top right corner of the browser window. - Select Settings.
- Select Privacy and security.
- Select Cookies and other site data.
- Deselect Clear cookies and site data when you close all windows.
- Close out of the window.
In Microsoft Edge:
- Select the icon (
) at the top right corner of the browser window. - Select Settings.
- Select Privacy, search, and services.
- In the Clear browsing data section, select Choose what to clear every time you close the browser.
- Deselect Cookies and other site data.
- Close out of the window.
