Projects permissions

Projects permissions control who has access and visibility to Projects functionality.

When a new feature is added, you typically need to assign permissions to users. This allows you to control access of who can use those new features.

A user's effective permissions can be influenced by other factors, such as their user type, role, and admin privileges. Learn more about user types and permissions.

Activities and lists

Permission Options

Customers

  • List: Displays a list of customer records.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for customer record details. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add customer records. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to edit customer record details except for the customer ID. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete customer records. Requires the List permission.

To access the Customer name link, assign the AR ledger Run permission from the Accounts Receivable application. Users can customize, view, process and store, print, email, and export reports. Requires the List permission.

To access the Delivery history link on customer record details, assign the Customers Edit permission from the Accounts Receivable application.

To display the Dunning notices tab on customer record details, assign the Print or email dunning notice List and View permissions from the Accounts Receivable application.

Customer groups

  • List: Displays a list of customer groups.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for customer group information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add customer groups. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update customer group information except for the customer group ID. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete customer groups. Requires the List permission.

To access the Members link, assign the Customers List permission. Requires the List permission.

Customer types

  • List: Displays a list of customer types.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for customer type information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add customer types. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update customer type information except for the name. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete customer types. Requires the List permission.

Projects

  • List: Displays a list of project records.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for project information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add project records. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update project information except for the project ID. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete project records. Requires the List permission.

To access the Tasks link and tab, assign the Tasks List permission. Requires the List permission.

To access the Gannt chart link, assign the Gannt chart View permission. Requires the List permission.

Project groups

  • List: Displays a list of project groups.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for project group information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add project groups. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update project group information except for the project group ID. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete project groups. Requires the List permission.

To access the Members link, assign the Projects List permission. Requires the List permission.

Project resources

  • List: Displays a list of project resources.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for project resource details. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add project resources. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update project resource details. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete project resources. Requires the List permission.

To access the Project link on Project resource details, assign the Projects List and View permissions.

To access the Employee link on Project resource details, assign the Employees List and View permissions.

To access the Item link on Project resource details, assign the Items List and View permissions.

Project types

  • List: Displays a list of project types.

  • View: Users can see project type information, such as the project type, parent type, and status. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add project types. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to edit project type information except for the name. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete project types. Requires the List permission.

Project status

  • List: Displays a list of project statuses.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for project status information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add project statuses. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update project status information except for the name. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete project statuses. Requires the List permission.

Project contracts

This option is available only when you subscribe to the Construction application.

  • List: Displays a list of project contracts.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for project contract details. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add project contracts. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to change project contract details. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete project contracts. Requires the List permission.

Project contract types

This option is available only when you subscribe to the Construction application.

  • List: Displays a list of project contract types.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for project contract type information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add project contract types. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update project contract type information except for the project contract type name. Requires the List permission.

Project contract rate tables

This option is available only when you subscribe to the Construction application.

  • List: Displays a list of project contract rate tables.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for project contract rate table details. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add project contract rate tables. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to edit project contract rate table details expect for the rate table ID. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete project contract rate tables. Requires the List permission.

Project estimates

This option is available only when you subscribe to the Construction application.

  • List: Displays a list of project estimates.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for project estimate details. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add project estimates. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to change project estimate details. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete project estimates. Requires the List permission.

Estimate types

This option is available only when you subscribe to the Construction application.

  • List: Displays a list of estimate types records.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for estimate type information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add estimate type records. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update estimate type information expect for the name. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete estimate type records. Requires the List permission.

WIP management

This option is available only when you subscribe to the Construction application.

WIP management permissions control the WIP schedules, WIP history, and WIP project settings features.

  • List: Displays lists of WIP schedules, histories, and project settings.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for WIP schedule, history, and project setting details. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add WIP schedules. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to edit WIP schedule, history, and project setting details. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete WIP schedules. Requires the List permission.

  • Post: Allows users to post WIP schedules. Requires the List permission.

Tasks

  • List: Displays a list of task records.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for task information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add task records. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update task information. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete task records. Requires the List permission.

To access the Project link on task information, assign the Projects List and View permissions.

To access the Standard task link on task information, assign the Standard tasks List and View permissions.

To access the Item link on task information, assign the Items List and View permissions.

Task groups

  • List: Displays a list of task groups.

  • View: Provides a read-only for task group information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add task groups. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to edit task group information except for the task group ID. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete task groups. Requires the List permission.

To access the Members link, assign the Tasks List permission. Requires the List permission.

Task resources

  • List: Displays a list of task resource records.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for task resource details. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add task resource records. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to edit task resource details. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete task resource records. Requires the List permission.

Items

  • List: Displays a list of items.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for item details. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add items. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update item details. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete items. Requires the List permission.

Item groups

  • List: Displays a list of item groups.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for item group information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add item groups. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update item group information except for the item group ID. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete item groups. Requires the List permission.

To access the Members link, assign the Items List permission. Requires the List permission.

Employees

  • List: Displays a list of employee records. Users can also select Schedule to view an employee's resource schedule.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for employee information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add employee records. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update employee information except for the employee ID. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete employee records. Requires the List permission.

  • Bank details: Allows users to enable ACH payments on the Reimbursement information tab. Requires the List and Post permissions.

To display the Cost rates tab, assign the Employee rates View permission. Requires the List and Post permissions.

To access the Location link on employee information, assign the Locations List and View permissions from the Company application. Requires the List and View permissions.

To access the Employee type link on employee information, assign the Employee type List and View permissions from the Company application. Requires the List and View permissions.

Employee groups

  • List: Displays a list of employee groups.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for employee group information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add employee groups. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Users can update employee group information except for the employee group ID. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Enables users to delete employee groups. Requires the List permission.

To access the Members link, assign the Employees List permission. Requires the List permission.

Employee rates

  • View: Generates the Cost rates tab on the Employee Information page.

If you assign the View permission, also assign Employees permissions so that users can manage employee information.

Generate invoices

The Generate invoices permissions control the Generate invoices and View runs features.

  • Run: Displays a list of invoice runs and the Generate Invoices page.

  • Add: Allows users to generate invoices. Requires the Run permission.

Invoices

  • List: Displays a list of Order Entry transactions.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for Order Entry transactions. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Allows users to edit Order Entry transactions. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Enables users to delete Order Entry transactions. Requires the List permission.

Print or email invoices

  • Run: Generates the Print or Email Documents page.

Manage resource schedules

  • List: Generates the Resource Capacity page.

  • View all: Allows users to view all schedule statuses. Requires the List permission.

Transaction rule

  • List: Displays a list of transaction rules.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for transaction rule details. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add transaction rules. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update transaction rule details except for the name. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete transaction rules. Requires the List permission.

To access the Journal link on transaction rule details, assign the Journals List and View permissions from the General Ledger application.

Gantt chart

  • View: Generates the Summary Gantt Chart page.

  • Customize: Allows users to customize Gantt charts. Requires the Run permission.

Standard tasks

  • List: Displays a list of standard task catalog records.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for standard task information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add standard task catalog records. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update standard task information except for the ID. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete standard task catalog records. Requires the List permission.

To access the Item link on standard task information, assign the Items List and View permissions.

Standard cost types

This option is available only when you subscribe to the Construction application.

  • List: Displays a list of standard cost type catalog records.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for standard cost type information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add standard cost type catalog records. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to change standard cost type information except for the ID. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete standard cost type catalog records. Requires the List permission.

Accumulation types

This option is available only when you subscribe to the Construction application.

  • List: Displays a list of accumulation types.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for accumulation type information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add accumulation types. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to edit accumulation type information except for the name. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete accumulation types. Requires the List permission.

Cost types

This option is available only when you subscribe to the Construction application.

  • List: Displays a list of cost type records.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for cost type information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add cost type records. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to update cost type information. Requires the List permission.

  • List: Displays a list of change request type records.

This option is available only when you subscribe to the Construction application.

  • List: Displays a list of WIP relief records.

  • Generate: Allows users to generate WIP relief records. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Enables users to delete WIP relief records.

Order Entry transactions

  • List: Displays a list of Order Entry transactions.

  • View: Provides a read-only view for Order Entry transaction information. Requires the List permission.

  • Add: Allows users to add Order Entry transactions. Requires the List permission.

  • Edit: Enables users to edit Order Entry transaction information. Requires the List permission.

  • Delete: Users can delete Order Entry transactions. Requires the List permission.
