Schedule a GL report to run on close
Closing the books is a regular part of the period-end process. It prevents users from posting transactions to the closed period and ensures that you can finalize your financials. You can also re-open the books if necessary.
You can create scheduled reports that run whenever someone performs a General Ledger close.
- For top-level scheduled reports, set the schedule to send any reports on the top level close.
- For entity-level scheduled reports, create a schedule to send the entity-level reports when the close is performed at the entity level.

Set run at close
This feature is only available to scheduled reports.
- Go to Reports > Financial reports.
- Find the report, and then select Schedule.
- Enter any filter information to use when running the report.
-
In the Schedule section, enter a Start date and select an Ends option.
Close the period on or after the start date to trigger the report.
ExampleYou've scheduled a report to run after General Ledger close and entered the following schedule:
-
Start date: January 1, 2025
-
End on: December 31, 2025
On January 10, 2025, you close General Ledger for the period ending December 31, 2024. The report runs as expected.
However, if you initiate the close on December 31, 2024, the report will not run because you initiated the close before the start date.
-
- In the Recurrence list, select Following General Ledger close.
The report runs at midnight using the timezone set for your company. However, the report uses the close date for the as-of date.
