Welcome to Projects

Projects applications provide different levels of project management and project accounting to fit your business needs. Depending on your user type, and the type of Projects subscription your company has, you can access and execute project-related tasks.

The Construction industry uses specific terminology that can differ from Sage Intacct terminology. Understand how Sage Intacct terms align with Construction industry terms.

You can then change Sage Intacct terminology to match Construction industry terms. For example, you can change Project to Job.

Subscribe to project applications

Depending on your project accounting needs, you can subscribe to different levels of project management applications. To subscribe to a new Project package, contact your Sage Intacct administrator.

Application name Description How to enable

Basic Project Tracking

Create, edit, and view projects for tracking and reporting purposes. To categorize projects, assign a project status and a project type.

Enable the Projects dimension on the Configure General Ledger page.

Task Tracking

Create, edit, and view task transactions for General Ledger tracking and reporting purposes.

Enabling the task dimension enables the project dimension.

Enable the Task dimension on the Configure General Ledger page.

Project Costing

Project Costing allows you to:

  • Enable the Task dimension

  • Break down a project into tasks

  • Charge project time

  • Allocate indirect cost to projects

  • Approve full timesheets

  • Support hourly and salaried labor costing, actual versus planned analysis, and usage reporting

This application includes all capabilities offered by Basic Project Tracking, Time, and Expenses.

Project Costing & Billing

Includes project tracking, Time, Expenses, and Project Costing and Billing. You can also generate invoices for the following project types:

  • Time & Materials
  • Scheduled
  • Fixed price
  • Percent complete
  • Milestone

When subscribed with Revenue Management, you can enable revenue recognition on a different schedule from billing, based on percent complete, milestone, or costs.

Select Enable project billing on the Configure Projects page.

Project & Resource Management

Includes the same capabilities as the above options. This option also includes:

  • Operational and financial Gantt charts with drill-down capabilities

  • Assignment of resource skills and certification

  • Ability to find resources and assignments

  • Resource availability analysis

  • Out-of-office tracking

  • Forecast and usage reporting

This application needs the Project Costing or Project Costing & Billing application.
