Merge Accounts in Salesforce
The Intacct Advanced CRM Integration supports Salesforce Account merges by allowing you to add a button that will associate the old Account ID with the existing Intacct ID number.
Accounts that are merged in Salesforce are assigned a new Account ID. If the old Account is associated with a Customer ID in Intacct, the new Account ID could break their association. When the link is broken, the Advanced CRM Salesforce package has tools to reset the link.
For more information about Salesforce Merge Accounts, see the Salesforce help: https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=account_merge.htm
How Intacct transactions are handled
After resetting the link between the new Account ID and the Intacct ID, you can interact with transactions associated with the merged Salesforce Account. A permanent link to the original record will exist even though the transactions are now under a different Salesforce Account ID.
Account Love and Account Lace are merged and become Account Lovelace in Salesforce. Account Love had Intacct transactions that are now under Account Lovelace. When a user selects the view, print or delete button within the Salesforce transaction object for any of the transactions, Salesforce displays the Intacct transaction. The transaction in Intacct will reference the original Customer ID.
Example: Oxprince
Account Oxford and Account Princeton are merged and becomes Account Oxprince. Account Oxford belonged to Entity UK and Account Princeton belonged to Entity US. After merging, Account Oxprince now belongs to Entity US. The transactions associated with both entities display under Account Oxprince. If a user selects the view, print, or delete button for a UK transaction, they’re able to view, print, or delete the transaction.
Intacct recommends that you merge Salesforce Accounts when no transactions are pending. Updates or conversions will not sync to Salesforce if pending transactions have different Customer IDs between the merged Account and the transaction.
