Change method for receiving 2-step verification code

Depending on your company configuration, you might be required to enter a verification code when you log in for extra security measures. You can receive a code by text, phone call, or authenticator app, depending on your needs.

You will select your preferred method to receive a code when you set up 2-step verification for your account, and you can change this method on the My Preferences page. Admins can change methods on the User Information page.

Receive a code

Receiving a code via another device provides extra security and confirms that you are indeed the person signing in to your account. You can set up a primary method to receive your code, and a backup method, in case your primary method is not available to you.

Depending on your preferences, you can receive a code by:

Method Description

Authenticator app for mobile

An authenticator application produces a verification code needed for each login. As a one-time setup, users establish a connection to Intacct by using their device to scan the QR code on the page. The app will produce a code which they'll enter in the Code field. The authenticator app provides the most secure method of receiving a verification code.

For every other login, when the user is prompted to enter a code, they can open their authenticator app and enter the code it provides.

Intacct specifically supports the following authenticator apps:

  • iPhone: Google Authenticator (Apple App Store)
  • Android: Google Authenticator (Google Play Store)
  • Blackberry: Google Authenticator (m.google.com/authenticator)
  • Windows: Microsoft Authenticator (Windows Phone Store)

Text

We text verification codes to your mobile.

Phone call

We send verification codes in an automated phone call to your mobile.

No charges will be passed on by Intacct for initiating calls or text messages related to 2-step verification. If you are charged for incoming calls or texts, consider selecting the authenticator app as your primary contact method.

What if my number contains an extension?

If the phone number at your work contains an extension and you have a personal mobile phone, you can use your mobile number to receive phone calls or texts with a verification code. You can also use an authenticator app on your mobile phone, which is the most secure method of receiving a code.
