Hold or resume revenue recognition schedules—AR or Order Entry
This topic describes how to place a revenue recognition schedule on hold and how to resume a schedule that was previously on hold.

Only Business users can post revenue, mark a schedule as delivered, or act upon revenue schedules in any way. Employee, Project Manager, and Warehouse users can only list and view revenue schedules. |
Hold a revenue recognition schedule
When you place a revenue recognition schedule on hold, it stops any scheduled revenue recognition from being posted. The hold goes into affect as of the date you executed the hold action. You cannot edit a revenue recognition schedule when it is on hold.
You can place a revenue schedule on hold from the Revenue recognition schedule window or from the Manage revenue schedules page.
Hold a schedule from the Revenue recognition schedule window
- Do one of the following:
- From the Revenue Recognition Schedules list, locate the desired revenue recognition schedule, select the three dots at the end of a record row and select Edit.
- From the applicable source transaction (for example, from an OE sales invoice), select the applicable line item in the Entries section, select Show details, and select View schedule.
- Select Hold.
- Optionally, use the Category dropdown list to indicate the reason for the hold and enter any comments as applicable. .
- Select Save.
The revenue recognition schedule's Revenue posting status is now "On hold".
Hold a schedule from the Manage revenue schedules page
- Go to Accounts Receivable or Order Entry> All > Revenue recognition > Manage revenue schedules.
- In the Action options field, select Hold, define other filter criteria as desired, and select Preview.
The Filtered schedules section displays only transaction items with associated revenue recognition schedules that you can place on hold. A Hold button also appears in the page header.
- Select the checkbox to the left of the items associated with revenue recognition schedules that you want to place on hold or select the checkbox in the Select column header to select all items.
- Optionally, in the Hold details section, use the Category dropdown list to indicate the reason for the hold and enter any comments as applicable.
This information will apply to all selected items.
- Select Hold.
If the action was successful, a green bar and check mark appear in the header and indicates the number of schedules that have a schedule status of On hold.
If the action wasn’t successful, a red bar and x appear in the header and indicates the number of schedules affected.
- If there were errors, select Fix these schedules to view source transactions and line item numbers to use to investigate the errors.
Resume a revenue recognition schedule
When you resume a schedule that was previously on hold, you can either:
- Keep the scheduled posting dates for entries with posting dates in the past, or
- Change the past posting dates to the next available posting date.
Resume a schedule from the Revenue recognition schedule window
- Do one of the following:
- From the Revenue Recognition Schedules list, locate the desired revenue recognition schedule, select the three dots at the end of a record row and select Edit.
- From the applicable source transaction (for example, from an OE sales invoice), select the applicable line item in the Entries section, select Show details, and select View schedule.
- Select Resume.
- Optionally, enter any comments as applicable.
- Do one of the following:
- If you want to keep the scheduled posting dates for entries with posting dates in the past, select No.
- If you want to change the past posting dates to the next available posting date, select Yes.
The revenue recognition schedule's Revenue posting status now displays the status that the schedule had prior to the hold.
Resume a schedule from the Manage revenue schedules page
- Go to Accounts Receivable or Order Entry> All > Revenue recognition > Manage revenue schedules.
- In the Action options field, select Resume, define other filter criteria as desired, and select Preview.
The Filtered schedules section displays only transaction items with associated revenue recognition schedules that have a schedule status of On Hold. A Resume button also appears in the page header.
- Select the checkbox to the left of the items associated with revenue recognition schedules that you want to resume or select the checkbox in the Select column header to select all items.
- If you want to set the scheduled posting date for all revenue that was scheduled in the past to the next scheduled posting date, optionally select Past scheduled entries use next posting date in the Resume details section.
This information will apply to all selected items.
- Select Resume.
If the action was successful, a green bar and check mark appear in the header and indicates the number of schedules that were resumed.
If the action was not successful, a red bar and x appear in the header and indicates the number of schedules affected.
- If there were errors, select Fix these schedules to view source transactions and line item numbers to use to investigate the errors.
Where can I see when a revenue recognition schedule was placed on hold or resumed from hold?
The Change history tab on the Revenue recognition schedule shows the following information
- The date the revenue recognition schedules was changed.
- The user ID of the user who made the change.
- The type of change that was made. For example, Hold action or Resume action.
- Any memo associated with the change.
