Tax multi-entity guidelines

Some Sage Intacct applications work differently in a multi-entity shared company. It can be helpful to prepare for these differences to ensure you work efficiently in the application.

Top level and entity level

You can print 1099 forms at either the top level or the entity level.

  • At the top level, you can print a combined 1099 for all the entities using the federal VAT registration number and address of the top-level company, or issue separate 1099s per entity.
  • At the entity level, you can print 1099s only for that entity.

Supported forms

The forms in the Intacct Cheques and Supplies Center are the only supported forms.

Be sure to order and have the forms before starting, because Intacct doesn't print out the IRS form itself, only the information that goes on the form.

Separate 1099 per entity

When the Issue a separate 1099 per entity option is cleared, the multi-entity structure behaves as if it were one company. In this mode, typically the top-level prints one set of 1099 forms for all entities and all suppliers.

However, the same list is also available at the entity level. The 1099 forms contain the company name, address, and VAT registration number of the company at the top level, even if an entity made the payment.

Two or more entities with the same federal VAT registration number

When you have more than one entity with the same federal VAT registration number, you cannot print 1099 forms separately for each entity. You must report all entities with the same VAT registration number on one set of 1099s.

Select the group that contains these entities. Go to Reports > Setup > Dimension groups > Location > Add.
