Account groups list

This list supports the enhanced lists interface. Learn more about using enhanced lists.

Account groups help you organize your accounts into larger and more manageable groups for financial reports, graphs, and performance cards. If you are new to account groups, it's recommended that you start by reviewing our introduction to account groups.

The Account groups list has two views, which you can switch between by using the Flip view button:

  • Account groups: Use this view to review and edit your account groups.
  • Accounts to account group map: Use this view to see if any accounts have not been assigned or have been assigned twice.
  • Financial reports, graphs, and performance cards consist only of account groups, not individual accounts. For this reason, every account should be a member of an account group
For multi-entity shared users: This is a master object, which can either be common (that is, accessible) to all entities, or exclusive (private) to a specific entity. Learn more about account groups in a multi-entity shared environment.

View the Account Groups list

To see the Account Groups, go to Reports > Setup > Account groups.

For each account group, the list displays its name, the Display as title that's used on reports and graphs, and the type of account group. Other links allow you to get more information about the hierarchy of the account group and how it's used in reports and graphs. Learn more about the columns on the Account Groups list.

Financial Report

Before assigning an account to an account group, you should run the Account Groups Hierarchy report.

Review your account groups

Account to account group mapping

When you select Flip view at the top of the Account Groups list, the view changes to show your account titles and the account groups to which they belong.

Use this view to see if any accounts have not been assigned to account groups or have been assigned twice. If an account isn't included in any account groups, or is included in the wrong account groups, your financial reports will be inaccurate.

To make changes after you have finished checking your list in the Account to account group map view, select Flip view to return to the Account group view.

Account Group Hierarchy report

A good way to see if your account groups are mapped correctly is to view the account group hierarchy.

  • To review the hierarchy for all account groups, use the Account Group Hierarchy report (General LedgerAll > Reports > Account groups hierarchy).
  • To view the hierarchy for a particular account group only, go to the Account Groups list and select Hierarchy next to the account group.

Import and export

You can import and export account group information using CSV files. In both cases, there are separate CSV files for:

  • Account groups: For each account group, the CSV file provides the name, type of account group, titles to be used on the heading and total rows, and other information.
  • Account group members: In this CSV file, each account group is mapped to a comma-separated list of group members.
When you export account group information, the CSV files are saved in the same format used for importing. This means that you can export account group information, make changes to the files, and then re-import into Sage Intacct.
