About external users

An external user is a user who accesses your company by sliding in through a console rather than logging into your company directly. When a console user slides in to an instance, the console user is identified as an external user. External users can complete accounting and implementation tasks in an instance company.

External users slide in to instances

External users access and slide in to instances. When an external user is a console user in the console, they can be assigned access to instance companies.

Go to Assign users to an instance for more information.

External user permissions

External users need to be assigned permissions to complete activities in an instance of Sage Intacct. An external user's permissions are assigned to their individual record in each instance that they access. External users have effective permissions in instances.

External user records

When an external user slides in to an instance for the first time, their external user record is automatically created in that specific company. If you want an external user's record created in another company, have the external user slide in to that instance.
