Configure decimal places for data accuracy—DDS

Data Delivery Service (DDS) allows you to specify the number of decimal places used in rounding your data. You can configure the decimal place setting on an application by application basis. The standard decimal place configuration for an application is 2 decimal places.

Configuring the number of decimal places used in rounding can increase data accuracy.

Configure rounding decimal places

Standard decimal place rounding is 2 decimal places. You can specify the rounding plan used for a company and then set the number of decimal places used for each application.

The following tasks demonstrate how to set the rounding plan, and then configure the Default decimal places setting.

You need to have an active DDS subscription to perform this procedure. Subscribing to DDS requires Admin permission.

Configure the rounding plan

There are two types of rounding plans to choose from for a company:

  • Entity based rounding automatically uses 2 decimal places when rounding all your data, except for columns with non-configurable / standard precision.
  • Configuration based rounding allows you to set the number of decimals places used for rounding on an application by application basis. The default setting is 2 decimal places, if you decide not to make any changes.

This task shows you how to configure the rounding plan for a company.

  1. Log in to a company with an active Data Delivery Service subscription.
  2. Go to Company > Admin > Subscriptions.
  3. Go to Data Delivery Service and select Configure.
  4. Go to Rounding plan, select Configuration based and Save your changes.
  5. Continue with change the Default decimal place setting.

Change the Default decimal place setting

This task shows you how to specify the number of decimal places used for a selected application. The Purchasing application is used as an example.

  1. Go to the Applications dropdown menu, and select an application.

  2. From the pull-right menu, select Setup > Configuration.

Select an application to configure from the dropdown menu.

  3. On the Configuration page, go to the Default decimal places field.

  4. Enter the necessary decimal places for data accuracy. This example specifies 4 decimal places.

If you leave the Default decimal places field blank, a 2 decimal place setting is specified.

Specify the number of decimal places necessary for data accuracy.

  5. Specify any other necessary configuration settings and select Save.
