Learn how to troubleshoot reports
If a report doesn't display as expected, there are steps you can take to troubleshoot the issues. However, you can shorten the time it takes to get the desired results, if you know what to look for.
Where to begin
Sage Intacct provides five types of reports:
- Standard application reports
- Financial reports
- Custom Report Writer (CRW) reports
- Interactive Custom Report Writer (ICRW) reports
- Interactive Visual Explorer (IVE) reports
Each type of report presents a different challenge when there's something's different than expected. For more information on each of these report types, see Explore reporting solutions.

Standard application reports are typical to an application. You create the standard application reports for your company, and the problems that you might encounter are specific to that application report.
For tips on how to solve problems that arise with a standard application report, do the following.
- In the Sage Help Center, go to Reporting > Standard application reports.
- Select the name of the application in which the report was created.
- Review the application-specific troubleshooting help.

You can create any number of financial reports, ranging from your typical Profit and Loss report to an infinite array of other reports. The most common areas where problems can occur are with:
- filtering,
- account groups,
- reporting periods, and
- category assignments.

Custom Report Writer (CRW) allows you to create custom reports with specialized sets of information based on your company data. The following are a few areas to investigate when your troubleshoot CRW reports.
- The order in which you group data affects the report output. For more information, see Order column groups.
- Calculation columns affect report outcome. If you experience problems with a calculation column, you might find a solution by analyzing the CRW example reports.
- Filtering is another cause for unexpected outcomes. Some filters are applied directly to a report, from the report filtering. Other filters can be used on setup components that are included in reports. For more information, see Report filters and Refine filters.
